Who is Raziel?

For the Catholic Church, Raziel means “secret of God” and is considered a special archangel who is responsible for protecting all the mysteries of the heavenly world. This being appears as a man surrounded by a bright aura around his head.
In an ancient legend, his name was Jeremiel or “The Mercy of God,” which indicates that this angel was in charge of the souls awaiting resurrection, but as time passed, his duties took on greater importance and impact, thus becoming Raziel.
Despite these aspects and popular belief, the Vatican has no official position on this Angel of Mysteries, who is normally associated with the Jewish religion and Kabbalistic tradition. It is also important to note that he is not included in the list of the seven archangels of God’s heavenly kingdom.
Judaism
Judaism is a monotheistic religion based on the Bible and the Torah, which collects information regarding God’s revelation to the people of Israel. For Kabbalists, the Archangel Raziel is a being who knows all mysteries and, as the leader of the ofanin, is a reserved angel covered with eyes that look like shining wheels and are constantly spinning. According to Ezekiel 1:15-21, this heavenly being has the mission of the ofanin, which is to move the chariot that transports God to the borders between the material and spiritual worlds.
Literature
As a character of great importance throughout history, this celestial being is currently part of the Shadow Hunters series of books. In this utopian world, he plays the role of a god or archangel, creator and protector of the shadow hunters. Likewise, within the hierarchy of angels, he ranks below the archangels Michael and Gabriel.

In the book written by Raziel, he calls himself the angel of magic, teaching men knowledge of astrology, divination, and amulets. He is currently the patron saint of alchemists, clairvoyants, and magicians.

The Book of Sefer Raziel HaMalach
Also known as the book of the angel Razil, this is a forbidden text dedicated to the practice of Kabbalah and arcane magic. It was originally written in Hebrew and Aramaic, but its best-known version is the medieval Latin translation called Liber Razielis Archangeli.
The book explains topics such as the spiritual laws of birth, life, death, reincarnation of the soul, and the laws that govern earthly changes.
In Hebrew mythology, this is a document of esoteric content that the archangel gave to Adam after he tasted the forbidden fruit and was expelled from paradise. Although this book has not been traced from the 13th century to the present day, it is a book with remarkably ancient content.
The book is divided into six chapters or short writings that recount mysticism, astrology, enchantments, angelology, and various branches related to the occult, such as the creation of amulets and magical talismans. The most striking part of the book is the segment on Adam’s Prayer, which is an example from the Book of Adam.
